Armenia Shouldn’t Send Battle Cries to International Community: Zurabyan

The Republic of Armenia has to take such steps as will promote the international recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh’s (NKR) independence, said Armenian National Congress (HAK) coordinator Levon Zurabyan, while speaking to journalists today. He also spoke out against the talks on Armenia recognizing NKR’s independence at this time.

“Do there have to be titans of thought in order to understand that today, if Armenia recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence, with that will come a global reaction directed at supporting Azerbaijan’s efforts. Do there have to be titans of thought in order to understand that the international community will view that as a call to arms from Armenia, and, naturally, will come back with a corresponding response. Those proposals are made by those people who, with the same depth of thought, say that Turkey’s integrity must be recognized within the frames of the Treaty of Sevres. How can I seriously accept those peoples’ statements? The most important step for Nagorno-Karabakh’s international recognition de jure is the process of de facto independence; enriching, populating, strengthening NKR, and not sending a battle-cry… to the international community,” said Zurabyan.
