Pilgrimmage Dedicated to Preserving Armenian Language Education

On the morning of September 5, a number of NGOs and civil society organizations will be going on a pilgrimage toward Oshakan’s St. Mesrob Mashtots Church.

As told to Epress.am by one of the organizers Aram Apatyan, the purpose of the pilgrimage is to preserve the Mashtots education, to continue the work of preserving the Armenian language. Today, when foreign language schools will be opening in Armenia, it’s simply that the opposite is taking place, said Apatyan.

Also, the Facebook group and corresponding initiative “We are against foreign language schools” has decided to join this event.

Apatyan also mentioned that on the same day, pilgrimage participants will join the march in Yerevan dedicated to Armenian-language education, which will be leaving from the Matenadaran (The Museum of Ancient Manuscripts) and, coming along Mashtots Avenue, will move toward St. Sargis Church.
