‘Small Council’ to Assist in Creation of Civil Society in Armenia

A local sociopolitical group called “Small Council” is resuming its activities. Group members state that this time, they’ll be working as part of opposition group Armenian National Congress (HAK).

As told to Epress.am by group member Ara Nedolyan, the purpose of the group’s activities is to create, in an environment of intensive discussions, ideological, cultural, political and civil approaches native to current, post-industrial society, and to immediately include in HAK’s economic and practical work those individuals, that segment of society, that adheres to radical-liberal ideologies and doesn’t tie the creation of current civil society in Armenia with foreign factors, such as, for example, the RA administration, foreign-political factors, but rather considers that the formation of public values and sounding, reproducing them in the actual political arena, that is the issue today, it is being realized here and now. 

The members of “Small Council” are theater critic Ara Nedolyan; art critic Nazaret Karoyan; stray animals rights’ defender Lala Poghosyan; artist Karen Andreasyan; painter Arman Grigoryan; journalist Arakel Semirjyan; painter, composer Davit Vardanyan; and journalist, musician Zara Hovhannisyan.
