Upon orders by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Safar Abiyev, new military commissariats (military administrative agencies found in Russia and other CIS countries) have been designated in 19 regions of the country. During the week, the republic’s military commissariat will also change, reports Milaz news agency.
The reports on military commissariat changes is nothing new. The reason for the changes were linked to corruption, as well as to the necessity of reforms to the military recruitment system. In this context, the issue of eliminating military commissariats entirely is also being reviewed.
At this time, however, the issue has been temporarily frozen since Azerbaijan hasn’t found an alternative to the current system.
