New Pedestrian Overpass will Ensure Students’ Safety

Another pedestrian bridge opened today in Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia community. The opening ceremony was carried out by Yerevan mayor Gagik Beglaryan and one of the students of Mkhitar Sebastatsy educational complex.

The pedestrian bridge connects the B4 district with the B2 district: there are primary and kindergarten schools in both districts and crossing the street had been quite dangerous, until now.

Mkhitar Sebastatsy Prinicipal Ashot Bleyan expressed his joy at the new bridge being built.

“We must want that those safe overpasses multiply. For years, regretfully, nothing was done in that direction and now great strides are needed. This is the greatest gift for my birthday. A safe overpass, because with this, finally a link is established between schools,” said Bleyan.

Beglaryan said that today pedestrian bridges have become necessary in Yerevan and it’s particularly important to secure them near schools.

Malatia-Sebastia district governor Davit Ohanyan, during his address, proposed that the new bridge be called “Bridge of Knowledge.”
