Armenian MP Doesn’t See Threat in Azerbaijan’s NKR Resolution

It’s about time that the UN reviews its rules for approving decisions, said Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Mkrtich Minasyan at a press conference today, adding that that’s not just his personal opinion, but many international bodies are also making such statements.

On the upcoming Nagorno-Karabakh resolution to be put forth by Azerbaijan to the UN, Minasyan said that Azerbaijan, by giving the issue many shades of meaning, is attempting to resolve some issues, but, in the MP’s opinion, even if the UN passes that resolution, it won’t have any consequences for Armenia.

“But, nevertheless, in the future Armenia will also put forth resolutions, since we too have much to say,” added the parliamentarian.

Responding to Epress.am’s comment that yesterday another RPA MP, Rafik Petrosyan, said that he sees a threat that the resolution, after being approved at the UN General Assembly, will make it to the UN Security Council, Minasyan said:

“I don’t know where Rafik Petrosyan saw that threat. I personally don’t see a threat. But in any case, even if that’s so, then vetoing [the resolution] by one of the members of the Security Council won’t allow the resolution to enter into force. I think that, in that case, many will come out against the resolution.”
