Counterfeit Banknotes Found on Armenian Citizens in Mordovia

From August 17–27, the Republic of Mordovia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an investigation into “illegal immigrants.” As a result of this operation, they identified 69 individuals living in the country without status.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Information and Public Relations, law enforcement officers, in the course of the investigation, visited construction sites, commerce and trade centers and social service centers.

Numerous offenses were revealed as a result of 987 raids. In Saransk, an inspection of two citizens of the Republic of Armenia revealed counterfeit banknotes on their person, while a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, who was living illegally in Mordovia, is being prosecuted for murder. Also found were 69 foreign nationals who were living in Mordovia without registration. 

Furthermore, 30 employers who employed foreign nationals without residency status or work permits were also made to bear administrative responsibility.
