Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan had called a press conference today on issues connected to reforms in general education and the start of a new school year.
Responding to the sharp decline in the number of students in public schools, the minister said:
“The government has managed to avoid massive cuts. This is the greatest achievement in the social sector. If we approached [the issue] using a scale of standard criteria, and actually calculate the required number of the workforce in schools, we would have less approximately 3,000 teachers.”
