During the press conference at the RA government building today, Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan assured journalists that except for a textbook in a single subject in the senior grades, schools are completely supplied with the necessary textbooks.
He added that all textbooks are provided free of charge to students in the elementary grades.
Ashotyan said that there are currently 91 high schools in Armenia, and the creation of an additional 40–44 high schools is planned.
The minister said that there’s an initiative in the National Assembly’s agenda on amendments to the law on post-graduate education, which stipulates a common admission exam for admission to all universities. Furthermore, the department responsible for licensing post-secondary institutions will conduct audits of educational establishments every 6 months.
“Licenses for all those educational establishments that have diverged even just half a step from the planned norms will be suspended,” he said.
