Even Azerbaijani analysts are saying that the agreements signed during Medvedev’s Baku visit were documents that had little significance for the Russian president to have gone to Baku, said Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) member, MP Gagik Minasyan, while speaking to journalists today.
According to him, this was simply an unsuccessful attempt by Azerbaijani authorities as a symbol of balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In this context, the National Assembly deputy recalled Medvedev’s remarks:
“When Azerbaijan’s president stressed how essential a pro-Azerbaijan solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was, Mr. Medvedev, in response, only said that Russia is prepared to invest all efforts with the purpose of finalizing text in a document acceptable to both parties,”‘ said the MP.
In response to Minasyan, Democratic Liberal Party of Armenia (HRAK) Chair Harutyun Arakelyan said that “people [listen to Mr. Minasyan] with optimistic energy.”
Arakelyan’s convinced that during the CSTO summit, no positive step toward the Armenian side was made in Lisbon or Istanbul.
In Arakelyan’s words, Armenia just managed to maintain the status-quo.
