UN ‘Food for Students’ Program Kicks Off in October

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today welcomed United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Regional Director for the Middle East and Central Asia Daly Belgasmi, reads a government-issued press release.

Belgasmi thanked the PM for the cooperation between WFP and the Armenian government. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects of implementing joint programs. Belgasmi reconfirmed WFP’s assignment in Armenia in implementing the “Food for Students” program for elementary school classes and presented the course of the work.

The program, set to begin on October 1, is planned to be implemented in the Gegharkunik and Tavush marzer (provinces). Talk also turned to issues in ensuring the program’s continuation, its self-sustainability.
