Georgia’s Football Federation Apologizes to Armenia

Georgia’s Football Federation apologized to its Armenian colleagues for the confrontation between youth from the two countries at the end of Tuesday’s football match.

As reported by both Armenian and Georgian media, Georgia’s and Armenia’s national U-21 (under 21) teams played off against each other in Mikhail Meskhi Lokomotiv stadium in Tbilisi on Tuesday as part of the Euro 2011 qualifying round.

The match ended with an Armenian win (2-0).

As Armenian team members approached their fans and reveled in their victory, a few members of the Georgian team approached them and started a fight. Managers of both teams approached the players and succeeded in breaking up the fight.
