The Russian government hopes that the Muslim community will play a decisive role in the country’s fight against terrorism. Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said this during a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Russia Rawil Gaynetdin, commenting on the recent bombing in Vladikavkaz.
“We hope that that Russia’s Muslim community will have its decisive contribution in this struggle. I know how Muslims relate to such extremists,” he said.
Thursday morning’s attack devastated the main market in the capital of North Ossetia, part of Russia’s troubled North Caucasus region. The blast is the latest in a series of terrorist attacks that have rocked the troubled North Caucasus region in recent weeks, including a suicide attack on a military base in Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports.
