Today, a round table discussion titled “Armenia after the Crisis: Challenges and Opportunities,” organized by the RA government, with the support of the World Bank, took place in Dilijan.
The discussion focused on stimulating investments, exports and economic growth through public policy in the changed environment of the global economic crisis, as well as issues related to poverty reduction in Armenia.
Led by Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the discussions included the participation of numerous high-ranking officials, advisors and chairs, as well as the World Bank team led by Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia Region Philippe Le Houérou.
According to the RA government information and public relations department, discussions will cover three interrelated topics: innovation; promoting investments and exports; and improving the effectiveness of the state and creating a social coalition, in the name of change.
International and regional developments will be discussed and thoughts based on relevant international experience will be put forth on how public policy can best contribute to the acceleration of necessary improvements in Armenian citizens’ lives and to Armenia’s transformation to a richer, more vibrant and prosperous economy.
