Shahumyan Community Leader Unlawfully Sold Water Tower

A criminal case against the head of Shahumyan community has been filed with Armenia’s Armavir marz (province) prosecutor’s office stating that official authorities have abused their power and have amassed large amounts of money, according to a release issued by the RA General Prosecutor’s press service.

Head of Shahumyan community, A. Yayloyan, on August 1, 2010, taking advantage of his official position contrary to the interests of service and based on his personal interest, dismantled and sold for 1,400,000 AMD to Yerevan resident Suren the water tower belonging to the community and found in the area of the community he leads. Moreover, Yayloyan unlawfully has allocated about 20 square meters of land to resident of the same community R. Karapetyan, for which he demanded and received 100,000 AMD. The noted funds Yayloyan used for his own personal needs.

Due to the fore-mentioned incidents, a criminal case has been filed with the Armavir marz prosecutor’s office and sent to RA police for preliminary investigation.
