The Armenian National Congress’ (HAK) foreign relations committee expressed its concern over statements made by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on Sept. 6 and 9, which, in particular, relate to the “Field Assessment Mission to the territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh,” reads a press release issued by the HAK press office.
In the release, HAK says that “such a mission is possible only in one case: if there is agreement by the Nagorno-Karabakh [NKR] authorities.”
“Such a fact-finding mission came to the region in 2005, presenting a report to the UN Secretary General. In spite of the Armenian side’s efforts, that mission didn’t visit the territories occupied by Azerbaijan, being limited only to observing NKR-controlled areas.
“The Armenian National Congress’ foreign relations committee calls on NKR authorities to allow for a mission in the region only in the case when the mission will observe NKR territories occupied by Azerbaijan. Armenia, in turn, must display political support for the demands of NKR authorities and ensure the OSCE Minsk Group’s positive response, according to numerous statements made recently by RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs high-ranking officials on the NKR territories occupied by Azerbaijan,” reads the release.
