Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of Turkey’s main opposition party, said he did not vote in the country’s constitutional referendum Sunday because of a mix-up over where he should cast his ballot, reports the Hurriyet Daily News & Economic Review.
“I want to apologize to my fellow party members if I have upset them,” Kılıçdaroğlu, chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), told reporters late Sunday at a press conference at his party’s headquarters.
“It was my responsibility to check the register of electors, but I could not do it due to my intense referendum campaign,” he said, adding that his name was removed from the electors list without his knowledge.
