If Mikheil Saakashvili “had consulted with me, then his work, the Georgian people and the government would be in a much better situation,” said Georgia’s former president Eduard Shevardnadze commenting on Georgian authorities’ activities in an interview with Georgian paper Asaval-Dasavali.
The 82-year-old Shevardnadze also said that the Georgian people are dissatisfied with the policy adopted by Saakashvili, reports Georgia Online.
In response to the former president’s remarkes, Saakashvili said that he “doesn’t need advice from Shevardnadze.” The Georgian president, on a few occasions recently, publicly criticized his predecessor’s policies and blamed him for brining Georgia to a “disastrous state.”
“Shevardnadze speaks frequently now and attempts to teach the mind to reason, but doesn’t he remember, what destructive policies he carried out during his term?” asks Saakashvili.
