Senate Yet to Review Bryza Nomination as US Ambassador to Azerbaijan

“US President Barack Obama nominated Matthew Bryza for the post of US ambassador to Azerbaijan in May.

The US Senate is still reviewing this issue. It has not yet been put to vote,” US charge d’affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling told journalists, reports News.az, citing APA news agency.

The diplomat said according to the US Constitution, the ambassador is nominated by the President and approved by the Senate.

Regarding the date of voting, Sterling said this was an issue under the Senate’s authority.

“They schedule it according to their working schedules and time,” he said.
