National Self-Determination Union (NSDU) President Paruyr Hayrikyan, at a press conference today, spoke for about 20 minutes on his past political path, saying what a great job he did for Armenia’s independence.
After the lengthy speech, Hayrikyan turned his attention to Armenia’s national anthem, calling the lyrics non-sensical, then saying that he doesn’t consider Sept. 21 the Day of Independence.
Asked by a journalist for his comments on a video circulating online recently which depicts what assumes to be officers in Armenia’s armed forces being beaten and mocked, Hayrikyan said, “I’m fortunate enough to have heard, but I haven’t seen the video. This occurs because of moving away from independence [and] democracy.”
