From Sept. 12–16, upon an invitation by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan was in Germany, where he met with representatives of the Armenian community in Berlin on Sept. 12. The event was organized by the Armenian Embassy in Germany, where RA Ambassador Armen Martirosyan made an opening speech, reads a press release issued by Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Ashotyan presented the priorities of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, the improvements and innovations it will carry out, as well as the work with educational institutions in the Diaspora. Members of the delegation from Armenia, rectors from Yerevan’s state technical and agricultural universities, presented the main direction of their educational institutions’ work and cooperation with German partners.
In particular, preserving Armenological department chairs and centers in Germany and the question of the establishment of similar new structures was discussed, and work toward creating an Armenological department based on the MESROB working group for Armenian Studies in the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, was presented.
