Armenia’s Political Elite Invited to Moscow Wedding

The daughter of Samvel Karapetyan, who is the brother of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s Chief of Staff Karen Karapetyan, will be getting married on Sept. 17 in Moscow, reports local Armenian newspaper Fourth Sovereignty (Chorord Inknishkhanutyun), and adds that invited to the wedding is practically all of Armenia’s political elite, from Serzh Sargsyan to oligarchs and ministers.

“That is, an entire plane of officials with their wives will be flying to Moscow from Yerevan, to take part in a wedding ceremony. The cost of the flight will be covered by Kalugayi Samo [Samvel Karapetyan, whose nickname is “Kalugayi Samo,” meaning the Samvel from Kaluga, Russia],” writes Fourth Sovereignty.
