Azerbaijan threatens resuming war in Nagorno-Karabakh, but the great powers perceive those threats to be negative, said “Turkey 21st Century” Institute Director Alesker Aleskerli in an interview with Vesti.az.
As for Turkey’s position on the issue, according to the expert, no one can deny that so far Turkey has wholly supported Azerbaijan.
“But let no one wait for military intervention from Turkey in case of war resuming. First of all, Turkey has no legal grounds for such an intervention. We can rely on only humanitarian assistance or prayers in mosques for Azerbaijan’s victory.
“Military assistance is provided only on grounds of bilateral agreements, with specific obligations. Before commencing military action, Azerbaijan must first understand what will be the reaction of the major regional players, to create the most reliable basis for security. First of all, military relations with Turkey must be raised to a new level,” said Aleskerli.
