Speaking in New York at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said Georgia is ready to share its experiences in the issue of fighting corruption, reports Georgia Online.
“It’s important not just to allocate funds for development, but also to establish control over their use. If you approach the fight against poverty only in terms of distribution of funds, you must not allow them to fall into the hands of bureaucracy,” he said.
According to Saakashvili, Georgia is a country that is entangled in corruption, where millions of dollars were lost, not reaching pensioners and children.
Over the last years, Georgia has made many efforts in the fight against corruption.
“Today, we’re not only fighting against corruption, but also taking steps toward the country’s development,” said the Georgian leader.
