In the Republic of Armenia today, there remain only three political bodies: Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Prosperous Armenia (PHK) and Armenian National Congress (HAK). There’s no Rule of Law (Orinats Yerkir, OEK), nor Heritage, said PR Company President Armen Badalyan at a press conference today.
According to him, it’s those three political groups that will be represented in the next parliament; in HAK’s case, the issue will be a little different, he said.
“If HAK can find a common ground with the Kremlin, then it’ll have seats in parliament. However, let me note, if these three groups can’t satisfy the Kremlin, the latter will create a fourth power, which is not a very complicated task,” said Badalyan.
Asked by Epress.am what such predictions are based on, when at the last HAK rally, HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan spoke only of extraordinary parliamentary elections, Badalyan said:
“They can say one thing, but the situation today is completely different. Today this area has turned into a Russian administrative territorial unit: whether you like it or not, you have to find common ground with Russia, since Europe, except for monitoring, isn’t involved in anything, while the US has other problems.”
Badalyan claims that, in Armenia, there are only two political faces: Gagik Tsarukyan (leader of Prosperous Armenia party and notorious local businessman) and Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
“There’s no Artur Baghdasaryan, who ceased being a leader, when after March 1 (2008), he went on the path of the ruling elite, while, for example, Raffi Hovannisian generally isn’t there, he doesn’t have an electorate. Where have you seen him? There’s a Heritage Party and a few MPs,” added Badalyan.
