Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (in Turkish, Milli İstihbarat Teşkilatı, MİT) would like to see among its ranks individuals who speak one of the following languages: Armenian, Kurdish, Hebrew, Arabic, Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Greek, Chinese, Farsi, Georgian, Macedonian, and Russian, as well as various Kurdish dialects.
Vacancies have already been announced; potential candidates who speak Armenian have until Oct. 8 to apply. Candidates will have to pass oral and written language tests.
According to a MİT representative, the decision to seek candidates who speak the aforementioned languages is due to the fact that lately, Turkey has actively developed relations with those countries where those languages are spoken.
Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization also notes that candidates must have Turkish citizenship, higher education and be born after January 1, 1975.
