Army’s Intervention During Elections is Unacceptable: Hovhannisyan

In any given army, hitting and murders occur; there is much literature on this and on why such cases occur.

Armenian Revolutionary Federation–Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) representative Vahan Hovhannisyan, while speaking to journalists today, made the above statement. Then he noted, that which has taken place lately in Armenia’s armed forces must become serious cause for concern.

“The Ministry of Defense mustn’t satisfy itself with examining those cases one-by-one [i.e. separately], and even if an impartial investigation takes place, it mustn’t be satisfied [with that]. It’s time for that to become a complex-problem. But I repeat, to make a phenomenon out of these cases, when the army becomes a target of political speculation, this is simply unacceptable, just as it’s unacceptable that the army interferes in the internal life of the country, for example, the intervention of the armed forces during elections,” said Hovhannisyan.
