Kars Authorities Denied Bahçeli’s Request to Pray Namaz in Ani Cathedral

Kars provincial authorities have denied an appeal by chair of the far-right Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, to pray namaz (or salat) in the Cathedral of Ani, reports Epress.am correspondent from Turkey.

Recall that Bahçeli, in response to the Divine Liturgy held at Aghtamar’s Holy Cross Armenian Church on Sept. 19, had appealed to the Kars regional authorities, asking for permission to hold a collective namaz in the Cathedral of Ani. 

Kars authorities, however, have permitted Bahçeli to simply visit the cathedral.
