Ruben Vardanian Not Preparing to be Armenian President

Russian-based Troika Dialogue Group Board Chair and CEO Ruben Vardanian denied reports that he is preparing to run in Armenia’s next presidential elections.

“First of all, I don’t want that. Second, that’s impossible since I don’t have an Armenian passport. In order to put forth a candidacy it is necessary not only to have such a passport, but also to live in the Republic of Armenia at least for 10 years,” said Vardanian, according to Russian paper Vedomosti.

Neither is he preparing to fulfill the position of Advisor to the Russian President.

“I would be a really bad government official, since it’s a specific culture, a specific psychology. I’m not interested in that format. I want Russia to have a bright future, but it’s better for me to secure that as I can — through business schools and other projects,” he said.
