1–2 Technical Experts from the UN to Participate in OSCE Field Mission

The OSCE field evaluation mission is the three Co-Chairs’ mission, and only one, two people from a UN organization, the refugee agency, are represented as technical experts, said RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian, responding to a question by a journalist, in a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart, Grigol Vashadze, in a press conference in Yerevan today.

“The technical experts will guide the OSCE Co-Chairs and their Assistants. Any other UN organization has no connection whatsoever with this mission,” he said.

According to the foreign minister, the mission will study the overall stability in the region.

“You know that two of the three Co-Chairs have just been appointed [to their positions] and have not been to this region, they are not informed in detail about the situation, and they are going to use this opportunity also to become familiar with the situation on the spot,” said Nalbandian, adding that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will be in Armenia the evening of Oct. 6 and perhaps they will announce more details.
