The authorities, of course, can deny the Armenian National Congress’ (HAK) request to hold a rally in Freedom (Liberty) Square, however, they can suggest an alternative venue which must not be too far from the noted venue, said Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Armen Harutyunyan while speaking to journalists today and responding to a question by a journalist.
“I’m not commenting from a political perspective, but let me say, HAK could’ve received the same ‘resonance’ from a rally in the area near the Matenadaran [Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts; an area where HAK rallies are often held]. I see a problem from neither a legal nor a political perspective,” he said.
