The US and Russia have different views on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, though both are members of the OSCE Minsk Group (which acts as mediator between the conflicting parties), said Alexandros Petersen, a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center (US), in an interview with 1news.az.
According to him, the US would like to see a quick resolution to the conflict, as a result of which the entire South Caucasus would recover and continue development.
“If not the status quo, then the most convenient option for Russia would be if the conflict resolution process were to continue under Moscow’s leadership with Russian peacekeeping forces in the conflict zone,” he said.
According to Petersen, Yerevan and Baku would have to take the initiative in this issue since the US and the Minsk Group Co-Chairs feel that they have exhausted themselves.
