Karabakh an Adjunct Regime to Armenia: Opinion

Azerbaijan is stepping up pressure in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, it’s using all international forums, be it the UN or the Council of Europe, for the purpose of applying pressure on Armenia and the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, said Armenian National Congress (HAK) coordinator Levon Zurabyan at a press conference today.

In his opinion, as a result, Azerbaijan is getting what it wants to get.

Commenting on a statement by RA President Serzh Sargsyan that the settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be effective only if Nagorno-Karabakh participates in the talks, which Sargsyan said at a meeting with Slovenia’s president, Zurabyan said:

“With their policies they contradict those statements, because Edik [Edward] Nalbandian, giving himself away, said that the agreement on the mission in the occupied territories was reached a long time ago.”

According to him, it turns out that the agreement was reached with Armenia’s consent, which, Zurabyan believes, means that Armenia disregards Nagorno-Karabakh’s position in any issue.

“Armenia has turned [Nagorno] Karabakh into an adjunct regime, which listens obediently and does everything that Armenia dictates,” he said, adding:

How will the international community respect the state and independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, if the Republic of Armenia doesn’t?
