At the Armenian National Congress (HAK) rally today, HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan said that, according to information they received, Armen Kazarian, the head of the network of Armenian-American gangsters and their associates who were charged in a much-publicized Medicare scam just days ago, had close ties with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and former president Robert Kocharian.
“That man, during the 2008 presidential elections in Armenia, headed a number of criminal acts in the fight against [HAK leader and first president of the Republic of Armenia] Levon Ter-Petrossian,” said Zurabyan.
He noted that, in fact, it’s become clear to the world that “HAK is fighting against a mafioso government, which essentially cooperates with the international mafia.”
The HAK coordinator also spoke on recent media reports that a group of officials and entrepreneurs in Armenia are tied to groups operating in Russia.
According to the opposition’s sources, the ruling elite were very concerned about these findings.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan yesterday called Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and said, “This list is a serious blow to the regime,” said Zurabyan, citing sources.
However, according to their sources, Putin didn’t offer any assistance in the matter.
“Such international findings, we assure you, accelerate the regime’s fall,” said Zurabyan.
