Instead of Bread, Consumer Buys Air: Poghosyan

It must be accepted that, over the last few years, food quality has improved, variety has increased, and even the quality of bread has increased, said Association of Consumers of Armenia Chair Armen Poghosyan, while meeting with journalists today.

On the down side, Poghosyan mentioned the lack of date of expiry, calorie index, and name of the producer on items, which, he said, happens all too often.

“According to our calculations, the shortcomings in this sector amount to 35%,” he said.

He noted that now there’s also an issue with the bread: when one buys bread in Armenia, he is also buying a certain amount of air.

“Through special means, they’re able to make bread appear large, but a part of that is just air,” said Poghosyan.
