Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian made an opening speech at the 6th session of the Council of Europe three-day Forum for the Future of Democracy bearing the name “Perspectives 2020: Democracy in Europe – Principles and Challenges” which kicked off in Yerevan today.
Nalbandian said that, with the joint initiative of Armenia, Sweden and Spain, organizing this significant event in Yerevan with the Council of Europe, Armenia is contributing to the development of pan-European democratic processes.
“Armenia continues to fulfill its obligations, advancing along the lines of building society anchored on democracy, the rule of law, [and] human rights and fundamental freedoms. We appreciate the support of our friends and partners in crossing that path as smoothly and efficiently as possible, since possible obstacles are more easily overcome when there is a sense of support and assistance,” he said.
Note forum participants will be treated to a reception this evening on behalf of Armenia’s foreign ministry.
