No Political Prisoners in Armenia, Says Armenian MP

“I can’t imagine on what basis he makes such a statement.” This is how Republican Party of Armenia MP Hovhannes Sahakyan, at a press conference today, commented on Armenian National Congress leader Levon Ter-Petrossian’s statement at the rally yesterday that the international community’s patience is waning.

Sahakyan also provided his opinion on the observation by Epress.am that days ago, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) signed a document that not only stated there are political prisoners in Armenia, but also demanded the Armenian government immediate release them.

“This is a normal international process; many times there have been similar reports. I am saying that in Armenia there are no individuals imprisoned for their political views,” said the parliamentarian.
