“I can clearly say that the problem of economic competition is in our economy,” said chair of the RA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Vardan Ayvazyan at a press conference today.
Asked what is the noticeable price increase in Armenia due to, and particularly the 50% increase in the price of cheese after the Armenian prime minister’s announcement a few weeks ago on a program to export Armenian cheese, Ayvazyan said that he cannot say what this particular case is due to.
“Generally the price increase can depend on the international market, and of course, if there is no criminal agreement among big businesses,” he said, referring to private arrangements by large-scale businesses in Armenia who might agree to artificially inflate or deflate the price of goods, regardless of market costs.
