All those entertainers who have ever held concerts in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR) are forbidden from engaging in any creative activity in Azerbaijan. So reads a statement by the administration of the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
The reaction follows Russian singer Katya Lel’s interview with AzerTadzh news agency in which the singer expressed her regret in participating in a 2005 concert dedicated to NKR’s independence.
In addition to Lel, the statement also names Nadezha Babkina, Soso Pavliashvili, Irina Otieva, Aleksandr Peskov, Al Bano — all of whom have visited the de-facto independent state.
The statement also states that from now on all state ministries and government agencies will monitor such events closely and prevent the singers from holding concerts in Nagorno-Karabakh.
