Each protest demonstration, picket and letter has its influence on the process of releasing Armenia’s political prisoners, said Melissa Brown, wife of Armenia’s former foreign minister, political prisoner Alexander Arzumanyan, to Epress.am.
According to her, representatives of international organizations who come to Armenia and who meet with RA President Serzh Sargsyan definitely raise the issue of political prisoners.
“All those international forums that are held in Armenia have their influence on the release of political prisoners,” she said.
“I believed Ashot’s release [referring to Ashot Manukyan, who was imprisoned for his involvement in the events of March 1, 2008, and who was released yesterday] when he was already at home. I am speaking from my personal experience, when my husband was imprisoned, there were news constantly that they were releasing the boys, but my husband served 1.5 years,” she said.
She is convinced that it’s necessary to continue the struggle so that all political prisoners in the country will be released.
