A suspect in the murder of two Russian service officers has been detained in Armenia, the press service of the Military Investigative Department of the Russian Federation (VSU SKP) told Russian news agency Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Information about the detainee has not been disclosed. It is only known that he is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia.
“Ensigns [citizens of Russia] Artur Yenokyan, 39, and Armen Zakharyan, 27, were found stabbed to death with numerous wounds to the chest and the back on the premises of the Russian military unit in suburban Yerevan on the night of Oct. 23. The military investigation department opened a criminal case under Article 105, Part 2 (murder of two persons).
“To provide practical and methodological assistance in solving the murder of the Russian military, representatives of the forensic department of the SKP’s branch for the North Caucasus Military District arrived at the military investigations department,” the press service said.
Thanks to competent joint actions and a joint operation with Armenian police, it was possible to detain the suspect soon after the murder. He was exposed as the killer, a military investigator said. The motive of the murder has not yet been uncovered.
