Aronian Comes Out on Top in Mikhail Tal Chess Tournament

Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian continues his winning streak at the 5th Mikhail Tal Memorial chess tournament. The Mikhail Tal Memorial is played in Moscow each year to honor the memory of former World Champion Mikhail Tal who died in 1992.

In a tournament with the world’s top players, Aronian has already secured 2 victories in 3 rounds. His latest victory — playing white, he beat Boris Gelfand (Israel) yesterday. Aronian forced his opponent to surrender at the 41st move in the game.

Now, the Armenian Grandmaster, with 2.5 points, is leading the pack. Alexander Grishchuk (Russia), Sergey Karyakin (Russia), Shahriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Wang Hao (China), and Hikaru Nakamura (US) have 2 points each.
