Attorneys Join Detained Opposition Youth at Yerevan Police Station

Armenian National Congress (HAK) youth who were detained this morning after participating in a protest in front of Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan are currently being held at Yerevan’s central police station.

As reported by an Epress.am correspondent on the scene, at the police station, along with the four youth — Sargis Gevorgyan, Areg Gevorgyan, Vahagn Gevorgyan and Sargis Khachatryan — are two attorneys, Vahe Hovsepyan and Givi Hovhannisyan.

The official time of admitting the youth into the police station was recorded as 10:30 am. At 1:30 pm, three hours will have passed, and, according to law, police must either release the detainees or name the reason for their arrest.

Note that RA Human Rights Defender’s Office press spokesperson Dzovinar Khachatryan, speaking to Epress.am, said that a representative from their office was also at the police station.
