Recent meetings between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in different formats, including the Astrakhan meeting with the participation of the Russian president, give hope for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said head of the sociopolitical department of Azerbaijan’s presidential administration Ali Hasanov, reports AnsPress, while speaking to journalists.
However, according to Hasanov, if the meetings do not yield effective results, Azerbaijan will refuse to participate in negotiations.
“We hope that in the future the two states will continue efforts to bring the parties’ positions closer. Armenians, sooner or later, will take on a constructive position and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be solved on the bases of international law and mutual concessions,” he said.
