Pontiff of All Armenians Karekin II’s Visit to Georgia Again Postponed

The Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenia Apostolic Church, during a recent meeting, decided to postpone the planned visit of His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, to Georgia this month, according to a news release issued by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

During the meeting, His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukian, Director of the Inter-Church Relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin detailed the upcoming Pontifical visit of the Armenian Pontiff to Georgia in the second half of November.

Taking into consideration the necessity of medical rehabilitation being received by All Georgian Patriarch-Catholicos Ilia II and his wish to accompany His Holiness during his Inter Church and Pontifical visits to Tbilisi and Javakhq (Javakheti), the Georgian Church asked the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to revise the date of the visit.

The Supreme Spiritual Council postponed the visit of the Pontiff of All Armenians to Georgia also considering the appeals of the Armenian Diocese of Georgia and the Vicarage of Javakhq (Javakheti).

Earlier, the Pontiff of All Armenians’ visit was postponed from the end of October to the second half of November, also upon the Georgian Church’s request.
