As reported previously, the Armenian National Congress (HAK) has been submitting requests to Yerevan City Hall for a permit to hold a rally in Freedom (Liberty) Square, the area adjacent to the Opera building where bouncy castles and other games for children are currently stationed.
As told to Epress.am by HAK representative Tigran Arakelyan, the last round of requests have been for rallies to be held on either Dec. 8, 9 or 10.
“The deadline for [a response from City Hall for] holding a rally at Liberty Square on Dec. 8 expires at 9 am tomorrow, and there will be a decision until then. As for [Dec.] 9, 10, according to the law, after having a discussion within a 72-hour period, which, by the way, will be open [to the public], City Hall will make its decision,” he said.
Note that the Dec. 10 claim will be the opposition group’s 40th request to hold a rally in Liberty Square.
