Eleven animals from the Nikolaev Zoo in the Ukraine — including kangaroos, flying Egyptian dogs, monkeys, and ibex — have become residents of Yerevan’s zoo. In exchange for these animals, the Nikolaev Zoo received an Armenian vulture guinea. This was told to a NikVestey correspondent by Nikolaev Zoo director Vladimir Topchy.
“The vulture guinea is worth several thousand dollars, but it’s even hard to find that animal to purchase. So, this is a very profitable exchange for us,” he said.
According to him, the new animal in the zoo is the second such bird, not only in the Nikolaev Zoo, but also in all of Ukraine. Zoo employees hope that that the two birds will mate in the near future and there will be vulture guinea to breed.
According to the Nikolaev Zoo website, the vulture guinea – fowl is the largest and most brightly painted guinea–fowl species.
