Julia Roberts Gets $1.5m for 45 Seconds of Silence

Julia Roberts has pocketed $1.5 million USD (1.2 million euros) for a 45-second TV advertisement for Italian coffeemaker Lavazza, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

The actress appears as artist Sandro Botticelli’s Venus, the painter’s stubborn goddess muse who refuses to reveal her famous smile until she is handed a cup of Lavazza coffee.

The ad, which didn’t even require Roberts to speak, will be screened in Italy over the Christmas period.

Roberts was the world’s highest paid actress for several years in a row from 2001, commanding up to $36 million per movie.

She played Liz Gilbert in this year’s Eat, Pray, Love.
