Georgia is Convinced, Russia will Sit at Negotiating Table

Russia’s authorities will be forced to begin a dialogue with Georgia, said Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze, speaking to journalists on Monday, reports Georgia Online.

According to Vashadze, Russia comes across the Georgian question everywhere, especially in the West.

“This speaks to international pressure on Russia. These aren’t just empty words, it will be forced to sit at the negotiating table,” said the foreign minister.

Negotations, said Vashadze, can take place both directly and with the participation of a mediating country, which at this point is Switzerland. “We don’t care about the format or number of participants.”

According to the Georgian foreign minister, “Russia will be forced to begin [these talks] earlier than it is expected.”
