Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia Should Integrate for Future in Europe: Azerbaijan Party Leader

In spite of the bitter relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the problems in the South Caucasus should be solved on the level of seeking consensus among the countries and peoples of the region, said Yeni Musavat party leader Isa Gambar in an interview with Newcaucasus.com.

According to him, the process of integration within the Caucasus will become a powerful impetus for the region’s integration into the European Community and the global community.

The politician believes that political parties in the region must choose between one of two directions:

“The first is the integration of the South Caucasus into Europe, and the second, strengthening Moscow’s influence. For the Musavat party, this choice is unequivocal, and we would like it to also be the sole [choice] for the major political parties of all the South Caucasus countries.”

In this context, according to Gambar, the Potsdam Declaration signed by the Musavat party, Georgia’s Republican Party and the Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh) is a historical document: “I don’t intend to exaggerate its significance, but I think that if we work on implementing the provisions enshrined in the Declaration, in the future, this document will be perceived as one of the most important in the history of our peoples.”

Note that one section of the Declaration calls on the release of all political prisoners in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
